THAI
MASSAGE
Thai Massage is an ancient holistic therapy with its roots in Buddhism,
Yoga, and Chinese Medicine. It gives you flexibility, inner organ massage,
oxygenation of the blood and quieting of the mind that is attained with
yoga. Thai Massage sees illness, or any lack of optimum health, as
reflecting an imbalance in the body and/or mind, and seeks to reestablish
harmony within. It accomplishes this by an interactive manipulation of the
body using passive stretching and gentle pressure along energy lines (Sen).
Thai Massage is based on the principals of energy and the running of energy
lines in the body. It aims to stimulate the flow of energy within the body
by opening the places of constriction and bring into balance both the
physical systems and energetic field of the human body.

This deeply
therapeutic modality is a combination of rhythmic massage, acupressure,
assisted stretching, breathwork and energy balancing. These movements help
adjust the skeletal structure, increase flexibility, relieve muscular and
joint tension, stimulate internal organs, and balance the body's energy
system. The effect is uniquely relaxing as well as energizing. Through
deep muscle stretching, joint release and emphasis on breath, Thai massage
offers many of the same benefits as yoga. It's amazing how much more we
are able to move when another person is providing assistance and
encouraging us to relax more effectively. It is an interactive form of
bodywork, quite unlike any other Western or Eastern forms. While it does
include the usual muscle kneading (in its own form), what makes it
particularly relevant is its unique stretching. You remain passive while
the practitioner does the movements to you.
Having a Thai Massage is a meditative practice for both client and
practitioner. It is a unique and deep massage that transforms the body to
a more flexible, relaxed, lighter and less painful being.
Thai massage is an ancient ayurvedic healing art. Through application of
pressure on energy lines and points, and a vast array of passive
stretching movements performed with the hands, feet, knees and elbow's,
the body experiences profound relaxation, peripheral stimulation of
internal organs, increased flexibility and increased flow of energy. It is
performed on a futon on the floor with the client comfortably dressed.
Benefits of Thai Massage are much like the benefits of yoga practice
including stretching and toning the muscles, the release of stress,
tension, pain and soreness, improves circulation, strengthens immune
system, supports metabolism, induces deep relaxation, increases vitality,
releases emotional blockages, balances the physical and energetic bodies,
and deepens ones connection to body, mind and soul.
